Program Objectives & Goals

Objectives

  1. As Faculty, we aim to educate and train competent experts who produce knowledge consonant with the needs of society and pertinent to academic principles in terms of genuine and universal values of religion; who interpret this knowledge according to the necessities of the time and Islamic values; who convey this knowledge in an effective and correct manner for the sake of individual's mental health and public peace; who disseminate this knowledge in line with protecting and improving our historical and cultural identity; and who are pioneers at both national and international levels.
  2. The aim of this faculty is being continuously developinf researcher, participant, and shareholder who produce knowledge at the top level in science, philosophy and art disciplines in the context of Islamic Sciences and being and institute which collecting in the form of universal and local values, predicting ethical and aesthetic values, professionally competent, competent to raise individuals who regard national and social values as virtues.

KNOWLEDGE

  1. In various fields of Islamic sciences, individuals acquires interdisciplinary study and evaluation skills.
  2. Individuals provides solution, approaches / recommendations to the social and global quality events, situations and problems in the direction of Islamic studies and social sciences. .
  3. It constitutes educational content according to the biological, psychological, social and religious developmental characteristics of children, adolescents and adults who are the target mass of formal and widespread religious education and conveys religious knowledge and values through appropriate methods and techniques.
  4. Uses and interprets the primary and secondary sources of Islamic studies and related disciplines from the original language - Arabic, Persian, English -
  5. Uses the necessary information and communication technologies and contemporary materials in scientific work processes of Islamic Studies and related disciplines.
  6. Recognizes the unique qualities of Islamic culture and civilization, gains historical and cultural heritage awareness.
  7. Develops awareness of national and spiritual values away from deviant and distorting movements. Acquires the skills of recognizing, living and transferring customs and traditions of the Turkish nation.
  8. Takes individual, social and institutional responsibility in research and studies on Islamic studies and related disciplines. Behaves in accordance with ethics of profession and science.
  9. It is an essential task to reflect the notion of Islamic Studies and the education of religion in everyday life with the totality of reason and faith. Also it is important to bring the supreme values of Islam to individuals as a virtue.

  1. Individuals have the necessary qualifications of individual and institutional plan for liberal education, field knowledge and professional formation in order to provide effective religious services.

  1. Indıviduals have the ability to research, examine and renew themselves according to universal higher education criteria in the light of the principles of revelation and prophet's way in Islamic studies, religious sciences and Islamic civilization disciplines.

Admission Requirements

Graduation Requirements

The degree is awarded to students who successfully completes a minimum of 240 ECTS from the course units of the programme with a  grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Procedures to recognise prior learning (RPL), including non-formal and informal learning, is in an early stage of development in Turkey and there is no a comprehensive and enabling legislative framework at the national level in place yet. However, within the institutional autonomy respected there are some implementations at the institutional level for allocating credits towards exemption from some programme requirements on the basis of RPL. This is particularly a wide spread exercise implemented in cases that students, having a certain level of knowledge, skills and competencies in relation to fields such as foreign languages and computer use, prior to admission to the university, are subjected to an examination and if they are found successful to a certain degree required by the programme they have been admitted to, they are exempted from the relevant course units of the course programme. RPL is also practiced for students who wish to transfer their studies to the equal or an upper levels at an another institution including those from abroad in the same or similar fields. In such cases, students, having received some course units in a previous programme they had studied and having been successful, may be  exempted from the same or similar course units of the programmes they are admitted to upon the approval the adaptation committees of the programmes.

Such procedures of recognition are also used comprehensively in practice at our university. The general arrangements for the recognition ofsuch implementations are outlined in the relevant section of our Education and Examination Regulations, Rules & Regulations for Graduate Programmes and that of Regulations for Lateral Transfer of Students.

Employment Opportunities

Graduated students of theology faculty are employed Directorate of Religious Affairs, Directorate of National Education and translator offices.
Upon a successful completion of the programme, student may continue with master and doctoral studies in the same or similar scientific areas, which may accept students from the science of Theology.

Access to Further Studies

The students graduating from this program may apply to second cycle programs.
