Established within our University in 2020, the Nuclear Sensors and Robotics Research and Application Center (NAR) is a multidisciplinary center that develops innovative solutions by combining nuclear physics and robotic technologies. As the integration of nuclear sensors with robotic systems gains importance on a global scale, İZÜ NAR aims to achieve this combination with domestic and national resources, reduce foreign dependency and lead in critical technologies.
The Center's vision is to strengthen local R&D activities in robotics and intelligent systems, produce advanced technologies for nuclear radiation sensors, and contribute to the applications of the future by combining these two fields. İZÜ NAR has adopted as its strategic goal encouraging investment and innovation by offering R&D support to the needs of private sector and industrial organizations, while also building the necessary knowledge and infrastructure.
Our Center's research areas include autonomous and remotely controlled robot systems, radiation detection technologies, swarm robot systems, nuclear medicine applications and non-destructive imaging. In addition, the design of nuclear electronics and data acquisition systems is among the Center's priority areas of work. In this context, the aim is to develop domestically electronic circuits that precisely process detector signals, time and energy measurement systems, and multi-channel data acquisition infrastructures.
İZÜ NAR also plays an active role in the international arena, taking part in pioneering high-energy physics projects such as the CMS experiment at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) and in neutron detection projects such as the NEutron Detector Array (NEDA). These collaborations give the Center the opportunity to make its domestic contributions to nuclear sensor technologies on a global scale, while also increasing the visibility of our University and Turkey in high-energy physics and nuclear structure research.
By encouraging undergraduate, master's and doctoral students to take part in scientific work, İZÜ NAR contributes to the training of young researchers; it carries out experimental activities through national and international collaborations and adds value to scientific knowledge.
Combining the fields of physics, engineering and technology with its interdisciplinary structure, İZÜ NAR has made it its mission to add value to our science and technology ecosystem by developing local technologies, to strengthen cross-sector collaborations and to lead the nuclear-robotics integration solutions of the future.
