  1. The minor program is a program that allows students who are successfully pursuing their major program and who meet the application and admission requirements of the minor program to take a limited number of courses from another undergraduate program and thereby obtain a certificate in that field.

  2. The total ECTS credit value of the courses offered within the minor program may be no less than 25 and no more than 45 ECTS.

  3. Minor programs are conducted in cooperation with the relevant departments/programs. An academic advisor is assigned to each student by the head of the relevant department/program in order to determine the courses to be taken in the minor program and the semesters in which these courses will be taken.

  4. The academic advisor assigned to the minor program communicates with the students’ academic advisors in their major program and ensures that students are guided accordingly.

  5. The principles applied in the major program are also valid for the minor program with regard to teaching activities, curriculum changes and similar matters.

  6. In addition to the major program, a student may enroll in only one minor program and, at the same time, in a double major program different from the minor program.

  7. The courses to be taken within the minor program are agreed upon jointly by the relevant departments/programs and are determined with the approval of the relevant faculty boards and the Senate.

  8. Courses included in the curriculum of the major program and their equivalents may not be taken as part of the minor program.

  9. In order to complete the minor program in which they are enrolled, students must take and pass all of the minor program courses determined by the Senate.

  10. A student may not take any courses in the minor program in which they are enrolled other than the minor program courses determined by the Senate.

  11. A student who has qualified for graduation from the major program but has not yet successfully completed the minor program may, upon request, be granted an extension of up to two semesters by decision of the relevant executive board. Students submit their requests for an extension to the relevant dean’s office using the “Minor Program Extension Request Petition”.

The quotas of MINOR programs are determined by the University Senate upon the proposal of the executive board of the unit that decides to open the MINOR program.

If a minor can be pursued between the minor program for which a student qualified in their previous major program and the major program to which they have transferred, the student continues their studies in the minor program for which they previously qualified; otherwise, their enrollment in that program is terminated.

A student may not request a leave of absence for the minor program.
