Course Objective
To obtain basic information about Sufism, Sufism history, religious orders and Sufism issues.
Course Content
The emergence of Sufism (tasawwuf) and historical process of Sufism, the first sufis, sufi schools and orders, founders of order (tarika), sufi terminology will be teach. The main subjects of the course are contemporary reflections of sufi culture by giving examples from sufi movements and principles.
Explanations
Two exams and one homework will be done. The questions in both exams are derived from the topics covered in the class and covered in class discussions.
Rules
Your participation in the class is the most important part of the learning process. Participation in the lesson is not just about coming to the class and signing; It means coming to class regularly and on time and actively participating in classroom practices and discussions. Lessons start just in time. It is your responsibility to inform before the lesson your reason for absenteeism.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Understanding the institutionalization process of Sufism and learn the social functions of the history.
- Recognize the major sects and have information about the sects in Anatolia.
- Have information about takyas and zaviyas which are religious institutions.
- Comprehends the problems and solutions of Sufism.
