HEALTH MANAGEMENT

About the Program

Unlike administrative sciences; health management, healthcare law, health care services, healthcare marketing, healthcare strategic management, healthcare communication, healthcare human resources management, healthcare, healthcare, healthcare, healthcare, healthcare, healthcare graduates are given the title of 26 Health Manager 8 in accordance with the decision of the Executive Board of YÖK on 26.08.1998. In this context, it is aimed to educate health managers who are knowledgeable about the health system and policies of our country, who can absorb medical deontology, speak the same language with health workers, think strategically, have vision and have problem solving skills. Graduates also play an active role in determining and conducting health policies of our country.

Facilities Offered to Students:

Foreign language learning (Free),
Possibility of making a minor (During normal education and with an additional year scholarship),
Possibility of double-major (during normal education and one additional year scholarship),
Opportunity to study abroad with international exchange programs (1 or 2 semesters),
Post-graduate postgraduate programs.
Career Facilities:

The graduates are employed as professional staff managers in public and private health institutions; inspectorate, account expertise, control and etc. appointments; They can find employment opportunities in various fields such as pharmaceutical industry, social security institutions, insurance (especially health insurance). In addition, students who have successfully completed the program have the opportunity to have masters and doctorate degrees in health management, business administration and management and other disciplines that accept students from this department.

It is aimed to make gain skills of students that capable of starting, managing and developing a business for himself and others in the health sector; innovative, teamwork oriented, entrepreneurial and capable of using technologies related to profession; advanced knowledge in business administration,capable of using management planning, organization, execution, coordination and control functions of production, marketing, finance, human resources and accounting knowledge.

Degree and Level Awarded

This section is subjected to first cycle degree system with 240 ECTS credits in the field of Health Management science.

Aftersuccessful completion of the programme and metting the necessary qualifications of the program, students become a BS degree in HealthCare Management Science.

Admission Requirements

Admission of national students to the HEALTH ADMINISTRATION (IN ENGLISH) programme is allowed through the nationally centralised Student Selection Examination (ÖSS) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM). Qualification Requirements and Regulations:

It is needed to be successful from all courses that must be taken in order to graduate and professional practice to work in the fields during 8 mid-terms.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning

Procedures to recognise prior learning (RPL), including non-formal and informal learning, is in an early stage of development in Turkey and there is no a comprehensive and enabling legislative framework at the national level in place yet. However, within the institutional autonomy respected there are some implementations at the institutional level for allocating credits towards exemption from some programme requirements on the basis of RPL. This is particularly a wide spread exercise implemented in cases that students, having a certain level of knowledge, skills and competencies in relation to fields such as foreign languages and computer use, prior to admission to the university, are subjected to an examination and if they are found successful to a certain degree required by the programme they have been admitted to, they are exempted from the relevant course units of the course programme. RPL is also practiced for students who wish to transfer their studies to the equal or an upper levels at an another institution including those from abroad in the same or similar fields. In such cases, students, having received some course units in a previous programme they had studied and having been successful, may be  exempted from the same or similar course units of the programmes they are admitted to upon the approval the adaptation committees of the programmes.

Such procedures of recognition are also used comprehensively in practice at our university. The general arrangements for the recognition ofsuch implementations are outlined in the relevant section of our Education and Examination Regulations, Rules & Regulations for Graduate Programmes and that of Regulations for Lateral Transfer of Students.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates are employed not only professional staff as an administrator in the public and private sector health care facilities; appointed tasks as inspectior, auditor, supervisor; they can find employment opportunities in various fields like pharmaceutical industry, social security institutions, insurance(especially health insurance).

In addition, students who have successfully completed the program of health management, also have the opportunity to be accepted to master and doctorate programmes in other fields like business and management areas.
