Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine the concepts of occupational health and safety, what are the actions that will endanger occupational health and safety, what is occupational health and safety in health institutions, what is affected, who is responsible for occupational health and safety practices in health institutions, how the risks and factors are and to make health professionals candidates aware of occupational health and safety.

Course Content

The content of this course consists of occupational health and safety concepts, actions that endanger occupational health and safety, occupational health and safety in health institutions, occupational health and safety practices in health institutions, who is responsible for occupational health and safety, occupational health and safety risk management models.

Explanations

This course has been prepared with a mix of theoretical and practical courses reminding the responsibility of each healthcare professional in healthcare institutions. For this reason, course contents were prepared according to the students of the health management department, who are the health professionals of the future.

Rules

Participation in this course is required. According to the IZU Undergraduate Regulation, the rate of attendance is 70%. Students who do not meet this participation rate will fail the course.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Understands and applies basic concepts related to occupational health and safety
  2. Determines the factors that threaten occupational health and safety in health institutions and takes the necessary measures to minimize these factors.
  3. Knows the use of managerial skills necessary for the formation of occupational health and safety culture in health institutions.
  4. Knows the risk analysis in health institutions and knows how to work in coordination with the necessary units to minimize the risks arising as a result of risk analysis.
  5. In order to ensure occupational health and safety in healthcare institutions, it can calculate the damage that all possible risk factors can cause and take the necessary managerial decisions to prevent these damages.
