The Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University Faculty of Education began its education and training activities in the 2011-2012 academic year. The main aim of our Faculty is to produce knowledge in the field of education, share knowledge with society, meet our country's educational needs and produce solutions to existing problems. To this end, we aim to train idealistic and well-equipped teachers who can use contemporary teaching methods effectively and are in harmony with social values. Contributing to the development of our education system and embracing contemporary approaches by following innovations at national and universal level are also among our priorities.
Today, as information, communication and technology change rapidly, countries' levels of development are measured largely by the importance they attach to their education systems. Faculties of education play a vital role in solving the problems of these systems, developing them and ensuring their sustainability. Faculties of Education not only train teachers but also make scientific contributions to shaping education policy. With this awareness, our Faculty continues on its way, strengthening its academic capacity and technological infrastructure every day.
Our Faculty has five departments and nine undergraduate programmes affiliated with these departments:
Our students have the opportunity to do a double major or minor between these programmes or with departments in other faculties. In addition, courses in English, Arabic, Ottoman Turkish and Russian are offered free of charge by our teaching staff throughout the year. Our Faculty encourages its students to participate in national (Farabi) and international (Erasmus) student exchange programmes and provides all kinds of support in these processes.
As the İZÜ Faculty of Education, we take care to always be by our students' side, both during their studies and after graduation, as they prepare for life, develop and advance in their professions and move into the world of work.
Our Faculty offers graduate education opportunities. The Department of Educational Sciences has three master's programmes in “Educational Administration and Supervision”, “Guidance and Psychological Counselling” and “Family Counselling and Education”, while the Department of English Language Teaching has a master's programme in “English Language Teaching” and a doctoral programme in “English Language and Literature”.
We congratulate our valued students who have chosen our Faculty, believe that they will achieve their goals in a peaceful, productive environment open to academic development, and sincerely say “welcome” to you all.
