Guidance and Psychological Counseling
The aim of the Guidance and Psychological Counselling undergraduate programme is to support individuals' lifelong learning, help them gain skills in the personal, social, professional and educational domains, help individuals in the field of mental health, and train school counsellors and psychological counsellors who are committed to the ethics and laws of the profession and continue to develop themselves. Our University's Guidance and Psychological Counselling Programme began teaching in 2011. The language of instruction is Turkish, and the curricula are based on an interdisciplinary understanding. The programme consists of theoretical and applied courses from different disciplines, generally with an emphasis on psychology and education. By enabling our students to do internships in public institutions and organizations and in the private sector, we ensure that they become the best-equipped school counsellors and psychological counsellors.
Graduates of guidance and psychological counselling undergraduate programmes can be employed as psychological counsellors/school counsellors in public or private schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, as pedagogues in institutions under the Ministry of Justice, and as psychological counsellors in nurseries, day care centres, nursing homes and similar health institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Family and Social Services and the Ministry of Health. In addition, our graduates can develop themselves in career counselling and work in the human resources departments of companies.
Graduates who wish to work in the clinical field and receive supporting training can serve as psychological counsellors/psychotherapists in private counselling centres in the areas of child, adolescent, adult and family counselling.
During their undergraduate studies, students can take courses from different departments or divisions through minor and double major programmes. The Division of Guidance and Psychological Counselling also has master's programmes with and without thesis.
