The main aim of the Division of Mathematics Education within the Department of Mathematics and Science Education at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University is to train well-equipped and qualified mathematics teachers who will work at lower secondary level. Students graduating from this programme become competent to work as teachers or administrators in state schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, private educational institutions and various organizations. Our students also have the opportunity to pursue an academic career and work as teaching staff at universities by continuing with master's and doctoral studies.
As a division, our aim is to be a distinguished research and education institution that contributes to the world of education and to society by training teachers who embrace contemporary educational approaches, stand out with exemplary practice and are open to continuous development in their field.
To this end, one of our main goals is for our students to grow into individuals who can produce and apply knowledge, have well-developed problem-solving skills, think critically and analytically, and are entrepreneurial, determined, able to communicate effectively and highly empathetic. It is also one of our priorities that they become teachers and academics who follow, research and apply current developments, are enlightened and creative thinkers, and adapt to the innovations of the information society.
