About the Faculty

Humanities and Social Sciences is an umbrella concept covering people and the different aspects and dimensions of social, political and cultural life. The psychological make-up of people, their socio-cultural actions and relationships, and social, political and cultural life are studied by many scientific disciplines. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences was established to provide education and conduct research on subjects concerning people, society and politics from an interdisciplinary perspective in its departments. Particular importance is given to being student-centred in the programmes.

Students who successfully complete the relevant department of this Faculty are educated with the knowledge, skills and competencies that will give them the ability to address issues and problems from a scientific perspective, produce solutions to new situations, and evaluate data and phenomena. Based on this understanding, the main aim of the programmes is to provide society with young people who are familiar with national and global issues and problems and can propose solutions when necessary, know at least one foreign language, have acquired research, critical and analytical thinking skills, have the ability to make independent evaluations and are open to self-improvement. In each department, international faculty members also work alongside Turkish faculty members.
