The Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University Department of Turkish Language and Literature aims to educate individuals with an in-depth command of the Turkish language, literature and culture, while also developing their critical thinking and research skills. The programme encourages students to take part in Double Major and Minor programmes in different disciplines so that they can make the best use of their potential. In this way, students gain a broad academic perspective and have the opportunity to increase their job prospects after graduation.
Graduates of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences can teach Turkish and Turkish language and literature in public and private schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. In addition, students who successfully complete the programme can continue their academic careers by pursuing master's and doctoral degrees in related fields, above all Turkish Language and Literature. Beyond education, graduates can diversify their careers by working in various fields such as publishing, the media, cultural research and language services. In this way, they can take on active roles both in the education sector and in the cultural and communication fields.
