Subjects such as understanding the structure of societies, recognizing the values that hold people and groups together, knowing the conditions and factors that change and transform societies, analysing the social context of interpersonal relations and interactions, and learning the social background of social behaviour have always been of interest to people. These subjects, events and processes essentially form the subject matter of sociology, a branch of science that studies societies scientifically, systematically and critically along the axes of structure, functioning, interaction and change.
Sociology is a discipline that tries to shed light on such subjects based on scientific research. People who study sociology gain the opportunity to get to know and analyse more closely the cultural, economic, religious and political structures of societies, above all their own; the values, factors and processes that create and/or change and transform these structures; and how human behaviour is shaped. For this reason, sociology education is an education that those interested in society and social problems should receive.
