It is endorsed by LIBER (Ligue des Bibliothèques Européennes de Recherche) and is the European Working Group of the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD).
DART-Europe partners provide researchers with access to electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) through a single European portal and contribute to the development of the European e-thesis infrastructure.

Open Dissertations initially provided access to approximately 100.000 doctoral theses accepted by American universities between 1933 and 1955. Since further development, this resource now contains more than 1.200.000 doctoral theses dating from 1902 to the present day.
Open Dissertations displays the original printed index as a full-page image; searches can be carried out by author name, title, subject and university name.
