(1) Students enrolling for the first time in undergraduate programmes of the University that have a compulsory foreign language preparatory class take the placement test held on the date announced in the academic calendar. Students at level B2 or above in this test take the foreign language proficiency examination. If successful, they are deemed exempt from the compulsory foreign language preparatory class and proceed directly to the undergraduate degree programme in which they are enrolled.
(2) If students have obtained, in national or international examinations measuring all four language skills, a score equivalent to level “B2” as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, they submit the originals of these documents to the secretariat of the relevant preparatory unit within the enrolment period, as stated in the directive. An assessment is carried out and, if approved, the student proceeds to their programme at the faculty.
(3) Students who, for at least the last three years, have studied at secondary education institutions attended by nationals of a country in which the designated language of instruction is spoken as the mother tongue, and who completed their secondary education at such institutions, are exempted from the relevant compulsory foreign language preparatory class and proceed to the undergraduate degree programme in which they are enrolled.
(4) National and international examinations accepted for exemption from the compulsory foreign language preparatory class at the University are valid for 2 (two) years.
(6) Exemption from the compulsory foreign language preparatory class on the basis of a document showing a student's achievement in the foreign language preparatory class of another university is determined by a decision of the relevant unit coordinator's office.
