SCOPE OF THE SCHOLARSHIP

  • 100% Tuition Scholarship: Exemption from tuition fees

  • Monthly Cash Scholarship: 60.000 TL

  • Compulsory General Health Insurance

  • Meal Scholarship: Free lunch at the IZU cafeteria

  • Guest House/Dormitory Scholarship: Exemption from guest house/dormitory fees (meals included) for students staying in IZU guest houses or in dormitories affiliated with the founding foundation (İlim Yayma Foundation).

NUMBER OF SCHOLARSHIP HOLDERS AND DURATION

  • The Academic Development Scholarship will be awarded to a total of 20 doctoral students: 10 from the natural sciences and 10 from the social sciences.

  • The Academic Development Scholarship is paid for 12 months a year and continues without interruption throughout the normal duration of study of the doctoral programme (4 years).

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • To apply to any doctoral programme at the IZU Graduate School of Education,

  • (To benefit from the scholarship, obtaining admission to the programme applied for and completing enrolment are required.)

  • To document that they are not in any paid employment (SGK Registration and Service Record Document), [for students who are Turkish citizens]

  • To be willing to take part in and contribute to teaching and research activities at IZU on a full-time basis.

  • ALES Score

    • To have an ALES score of at least 80.

    • Or to have obtained a score of 156 in the GRE or 590 in the GMAT, which are accepted as equivalent to ALES.

    • No ALES, GRE or GMAT score requirement applies to foreign national (international) students. However, the GRE or GMAT scores of foreign national students who hold them are converted into ALES scores and evaluated accordingly.

 

  • Graduation Grade Average

    • Undergraduate graduation grade average: must be at least 3.00 out of 4.00.

    • Master's graduation grade average: must be at least 3.50 out of 4.00.
       

  • Foreign Language Score

    • For programmes taught in Turkish, candidates must have obtained at least 70 points in the YDS/YÖKDİL/e-TEP examinations in the relevant foreign language, or an international foreign language score recognised as equivalent by ÖSYM.

    • For programmes taught wholly or partly in a foreign language, candidates must have obtained at least 80 points in the YDS/YÖKDİL/e-TEP examinations in the relevant foreign language, or an international foreign language score recognised as equivalent by ÖSYM.

ACHIEVEMENT EVALUATION AND SELECTION CRITERIA

  • The achievement evaluation and selection process for scholarship candidates will be carried out by a Scholarship Evaluation Commission consisting of two academics appointed by IZU and one member appointed by the İlim Yayma Foundation.

HOW TO APPLY

Students Who Are Turkish Citizens:

Candidates who are Turkish citizens and wish to apply for the scholarship must send the following documents by e-mail to ayb@izu.edu.tr by the end of the working day (17:00 Istanbul time) on 28 August 2026 at the latest.

  1. ALES/GRE/GMAT certificate,

  2. Transcript showing the undergraduate grade average,

  3. Transcript showing the master's grade average

  4. Foreign language certificate,

  5. SGK Registration and Service Record Document showing that the candidate is not employed.

Foreign National / International Students:

Foreign national (international) candidates who wish to apply for the scholarship must send the following documents by e-mail to ayb@izu.edu.tr by the end of the working day (17:00 Istanbul time) on 26 July 2026 at the latest.
