PART TWO
Procedures and Principles Concerning the Determination of
Class Achievement Rankings and Graduation Degrees

Determination of class achievement rankings

ARTICLE 5- (1) The class achievement ranking is carried out for each class of each programme among students who are in the same class, who have taken all compulsory/elective courses in the curriculum of the programme in which they are enrolled up to the relevant semester, and who have completed their ECTS credit load.

a) Students enrolled in the relevant programme through horizontal or vertical transfer, as well as students enrolled in a double major programme, are also included in the class achievement ranking.
b) The class achievement ranking is based on the GPAs of the students enrolled in the relevant programme. In the event of equal GPAs, priority is given to the student with the higher number of completed ECTS credits and, where the ECTS credits are also equal, to the younger student.
c) Students who have outstanding courses or missing ECTS credits from the semester in which the class achievement ranking is calculated and/or from previous semesters, students who have exceeded the normal period of study, students enrolled in minor programmes, exchange programme students and special students are not included in the ranking.
ç) Students' class achievement rankings and percentile achievement brackets are announced through the student information system at the end of each semester following the announcement of resit examination grades.
d) Students' class achievement rankings and percentile achievement brackets may be updated for reasons such as subsequent grade changes based on the decisions of the relevant faculty board of directors or the entry of I (Incomplete) grades into the system.
e) Students who rank among the top three in the class achievement ranking are entitled to receive the Academic Achievement Scholarship awarded by the University, provided that they meet the conditions set out in the University Scholarship Directive.

Determination of graduation degrees

ARTICLE 6- (1) Graduation degrees are determined separately for each programme, for those ranking among the top three among students graduating within or before the normal period of study of the relevant programme.

a) Graduation degrees are determined by ranking the GPAs of the graduates of the relevant programme from highest to lowest. In the event of equal GPAs, priority is given to the graduate with the higher number of completed ECTS credits and, where the ECTS credits are also equal, to the younger graduate.
b) For each academic year, graduation degrees are determined after the announcement of the spring semester resit examination grades, first through deliberation in the relevant department boards and then in the faculty boards of directors, and are reported to the Rectorate at least one week before the Graduation Ceremony.
c) When determining graduation degrees, students graduating in the fall and spring semesters of the relevant academic year are evaluated together.
ç) When determining graduation degrees, students enrolled in the relevant programme through horizontal or vertical transfer as well as graduates of double major programmes are also included in the ranking.
d) If the degrees change after the Graduation Ceremony as a result of a grade change due to a material error or similar reasons, the degrees are updated by the relevant faculty boards of directors and reported to the Rectorate.
e) Graduates who receive a degree are awarded a Certificate of Graduation Achievement signed by the Rector and the Dean.
f) The awards to be presented to graduates receiving a degree are determined by the Rector and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
