About the Program
It consists of ten courses (3 hours per week) and master's project work (Total 90 ECTS). The normal duration of this program is 2 semesters, the maximum duration is 3 semesters.
Program Objectives & Goals
Objectives
- Bringing those from food and relative disciplines together.
- Enabling the understanding of physiological processes during product development and consumption in food-nutrition industry
- Equipping students with multidimensional and multidiscilinary perspectives.
- Performing the studies based on Human health in accordance with Turkey's targets in food and health in terms of 11th Development Plan.
- Making possible the effects of food development and in vivo tests on human health by collaborating with nutrition and other relevant disciplines.

It is evaluated according to the graduate education regulations of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University.

Degree and Level Awarded
When the program is successfully completed and program qualifications are provided, the non-thesis degree of Master of Science in Food Nutrtion is obtained.
Admission Requirements
-The non-thesis program are open to Nutrition and dietetics, Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Agricultural Faculty, Food Engineering, Biology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, and Veterinary faculty graduets. The scientific probation program are compulsory for those who different from Food Engineering and Nutrition and Dietetics.
-ALES is not considered as a prerequest,
-All the courses in this program are conducted in the Halkalı Central Campus of IZU.
Graduation Requirements

Recognition of Prior Learning
The following criteria must be taken into consideration for those, who will enroll to, and take course in this program:
- The students willing to enroll to the program will take scientific probation courses, up to 8 courses maximum, according to the Department from which she/he graduated;
- Within the scope of the scientific probation program, the courses which will be taken from Food Engineering and/or Nutrition and Dietetics should not exceed 60% of the courses given in these two programs;
- The students may be allowed to take a PhD course from Food Engineering, any course from another department's graduate program, and a course from any undergraduate program (unless taken before) if and only if the Char of the Department permits;
- The distribution of the courses to be taken from each department are determined based on ECTS;
- All the courses and the rules related to course selection are announced in the Deaprtment's website;
- Those, who graduated from either food engineering or nutrition and dietetics as double major students, are exeöpted from the scientific probation program.
Employment Opportunities
A student who successfully completes the program can work for food industry in food sciences and technology, health units, universities, food quality, food safety and security labs and organizations, public health related areas, R & D Units, nutrition and dietetics related fields, multidisciplinary projects, and food and beverage organizations.
Access to Further Studies
Those who are graduated from this program can not apply for PhD degree study according to the YOK's decision
