Dear Students,
Arabic is not merely a language; it is also the vehicle of a civilization, a culture and a faith. Since the earliest years of Islam, Arabic has been the language of the fundamental sources of our religion and has therefore always held great value. Arabic has played a central role in the development of the Islamic sciences. Works were written in Arabic in many fields, from philosophy to theology and from science to the arts, and these works have become a great treasury of knowledge not only for Muslims but for all humanity. Arabic works produced in fields such as medicine, mathematics, astronomy and philosophy even influenced the Renaissance in the West. In this context, Arabic stands out not simply as a language, but as the bearer of a profound heritage that has contributed to humanity throughout history.
In this context, as the Arabic Preparatory Unit of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, we provide our services with a teaching staff who are experts in their field. For our students enrolled in the Islamic Sciences and Arabic Language Teaching programs, which have a compulsory foreign language preparatory class, we deliver an intensive curriculum covering the four basic language skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening, together with Arabic grammar (qawa'id).
The Arabic Preparatory Stage at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University comprises 4 quarters spanning one academic year and a total of 960 class hours. At the beginning of the academic year, our students take oral and written placement tests to determine their language levels. The distribution of courses at each language level has been designed by taking into account the language skills our students need.
