Zero Waste
Adopting an environmentally conscious management approach, our University carries out comprehensive work within the scope of the Zero Waste Project. Various practices have been implemented in all academic and administrative units to separate waste at source, increase recovery rates and prevent waste. With multi-compartment waste bins placed throughout the campus, paper, plastic, glass, metal and organic waste are collected separately and recycled. Separate collection areas have also been created for special categories such as electronic waste, hazardous waste and waste batteries. In this context, our University regularly organizes training sessions, seminars and awareness events to raise awareness of zero waste among our students and staff. The aim is not only to improve waste management but also to support a sustainable way of life that respects nature.
Energy Efficiency
Globally increasing energy demand and environmental problems have made the efficient and conscious use of energy resources more important than ever. Within this framework, our university develops and implements various strategies to increase energy efficiency. All campus areas have switched to LED lighting systems, and motion-sensor lighting has been widely introduced. Energy-saving solutions are preferred in heating, cooling and ventilation systems; energy consumption is monitored regularly and the necessary improvements are made. Energy-efficient models are preferred for computers, printers and other office equipment, and automatic shutdown systems are used to prevent unnecessary energy use. In addition, students and staff are regularly informed about energy saving and conscious consumption habits are encouraged. In this way, both institutional savings are achieved and environmental impacts are reduced.
Water Efficiency
The steady decline of water resources makes it essential to develop awareness of water saving at individual and institutional level. Acting with awareness of this responsibility, our University carries out many practices for the efficient use of water across the campus. Infrastructure systems equipped with low-flow taps and cisterns, sensor faucets and leak-prevention equipment have been introduced to minimize water waste. In addition, environmentally friendly practices such as drip irrigation and rainwater harvesting systems are preferred for the efficient use of water in landscaped areas. Technical teams carry out regular maintenance and inspections, and any water leak or waste is dealt with immediately to prevent loss of resources. Awareness activities on water saving are also carried out for our students and staff through informative visuals, boards and seminars. Our goal is to leave a more liveable environment for the future and to protect our natural resources.
