General principles
Article 5 - (1) For students enrolled at the University as of 26/11/2014, the fall semester of the 2014-2015 academic year is taken as the basis for calculating the maximum period of study determined under the provisions of paragraph (c) of Article 44 of Higher Education Law No. 2547.
(2) For students who re-enrolled at the University benefiting from Law No. 6569, as well as students who enrolled at the University from the fall semester of the 2014-2015 academic year onward, the maximum period of study determined under the provisions of paragraph (c) of Article 44 of Higher Education Law No. 2547 begins from their enrollment date.
(3) At the end of the maximum period of study, senior students are granted two additional exam rights, in order to graduate from the undergraduate program in which they are enrolled, for all courses in which they were conditionally passed/failed. Students may benefit from each of the two exams once. No make-up exam is held for these exams.
(4) Students who apply to benefit from the additional exam right but do not take the exams on the dates determined by the relevant unit's administrative board are considered to have used their additional exam rights.
(5) Students who are in a position to use the unlimited exam right pay the fee for 1 ECTS credit, as determined by the University for the relevant year, for each course they take an exam in.
(6) Students who gain the right to take exams at the end of the maximum period of study may, upon request, attend applied courses, courses with practical hours, and courses they have not previously taken, once only; they may not attend other courses. Students may apply in writing to the relevant faculty secretariat within five working days from the date the weekly course schedules specified in the academic calendar are announced, requesting to attend classes. Students whose requests are accepted by the relevant unit's administrative board pay the ECTS credit fee, as determined by the University for the relevant year, for the courses they will attend.
Administration of additional exams
Article 6 - (1) Additional exams are held within the first four weeks of each semester by decision of the relevant administrative board. The date, time, and location of the additional exams are announced through the Campus Information System.
(2) In order for students to participate in the first additional exams, they must submit a request through the Campus Information System within five working days from the date the weekly course schedules specified in the academic calendar are announced.
(3) In order for students to participate in the second additional exams, they must submit a request through the Campus Information System within five working days following the announcement of the first additional exam grades.
(4) The grade obtained from the additional exams is considered the raw achievement grade and is directly converted into a letter grade by the instructor according to the grade ranges in the 100-point system. The last grade obtained in these exams is valid.
Procedure following additional exams
Article 7 - (1) Students who, at the end of the additional exams, reduce their number of failed courses—including courses not taken in the undergraduate program in which they are enrolled—to five or fewer, are granted the right to take exams for their failed courses for a period of three semesters. At the end of the additional periods, students who still have more than one failed course have their relationship with the University terminated by the Registrar's Office.
(2) Students who, without using their additional exam rights, have five or fewer failed courses—including courses not taken in the undergraduate program in which they are enrolled—are granted the right to take exams for their failed courses for a period of four semesters. At the end of the additional periods, students who still have more than one failed course have their relationship with the University terminated by the Registrar's Office.
(3) Students who have one failed course remaining at the end of the maximum period of study or the additional exams are granted an unlimited exam right, without benefiting from student rights.
(4) Senior students who, despite having received passing grades in all courses required to graduate from their undergraduate program, fail to meet the required minimum CGPA of 2.00 for graduation, are granted an unlimited exam right in courses of their choosing in order to raise their grade point average.
(5) Senior students who have received passing grades in all courses required to graduate from their undergraduate program and who meet the required minimum CGPA of 2.00 for graduation are not granted an unlimited exam right for the purpose of raising their grade point average.
(6) Students who fail to reduce their number of failed courses to five or below at the end of the additional exams have their relationship with the University terminated by the Registrar's Office.
(7) Students who do not use their unlimited exam right for a total of three academic years, whether consecutive or intermittent, are deemed to have waived this right, and their relationship with the University is terminated by the Registrar's Office.
Execution
Article 7 - (1) The Rector executes these Implementation Principles.
