Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to the theoretical foundations of psychological tests, their development processes, the principles of validity and reliability, their ethical dimensions, and areas of application. By examining different types of tests, students will develop fundamental knowledge and skills related to psychological measurement and assessment, and they will gain a critical perspective on the use of tests in educational, clinical, and research contexts.

Course Content

This course covers the historical development of psychological tests, ethical principles, statistical foundations, reliability and validity, test development processes, intelligence and personality tests, as well as applications of assessment in educational settings.

Psychological Test and Assessment - R. Cohen - Nobel Press. İstanbul.

Explanations

Midterm 40 %, Final  60 %.

Exams are multiple choice, short answered open end questions, fill in the blank formed.

Topics till exam date are included in exams declared in syllabus .

Course presantations, textbook, uploaded materials to system are included exams.

Rules

Attandance to lessons is essential.

Min. attandance is 70 % required.

It is recommended to participate class activities.

Lectrures continoues also via uploaded materrials to system - if exists.

reading couse texbook, following lesson slides are under students' responsibility.

  1. To be able to critically discuss the role of tests in clinical, educational, and research contexts
  2. To be able to explain the historical development, fundamental principles, and ethical dimensions of psychological tests.
  3. To define and evaluate the concepts of reliability, validity, and test utility
  4. To be able to use statistical concepts in the context of test applications
  5. To understand the stages of the test development process
  6. To be able to examine intelligence and personality tests as well as tests used in educational settings
