Course Objective
The aim of this course is to teach the pre-service elementary social studies lesson aims and importance, teaching methods and techniques that can be used in the teaching of social sciences and the evaluation and evaluation processes of theoretical and practical activities.
Course Content
Social studies area and its properties, basic aims and basic skills of Social Studies Literacy in information, basic themes and fields in Social Studies, Social Studies place and history in primary school program, examination of social studies curriculum (achievement, skill, theme, etc.), strategy, methods, techniques and materials used in social studies teaching. Examples of applications are related, democracy in social studies, human rights and values education, social studies textbook examples from Turkey and other countries and comparisons

Explanations
The following points will be used in the calculation of the overall grade:
Midterm exam (midterm) 25% (consisting of multiple choice, true-false, fill-in-the-blank and open-ended questions)
Teaching presentation 25% (the criteria of preparing a lesson plan, using appropriate methods-techniques-strategies, preparing materials/presentations, realizing the lesson and activity processes appropriately are taken into consideration)
The following criteria are taken into consideration in the evaluation of the presentations:
- A lesson and activity process appropriate to the age/grade level (25%)
- Preparation of activities and materials appropriate to the learning outcome(s) (20%) --> Preparation of materials is mandatory.
- Processing suitable for different learning styles (25%)
- Classroom management and active learning (15%)
- Appropriateness of the lesson plan and its submission before the presentation (15%)
Final exam 50% (consisting of multiple choice, true-false, fill-in-the-blank and open-ended questions)
Rules
Attendance is essential for the course.
The student is responsible for monitoring their attendance status and for signing the attendance list to demonstrate their participation in the course.

- To be able to plan instructional activities for the Social Studies course.
- To be able to explain the purpose and importance of using technology and materials in Social Studies instruction.
- To be able to explain assessment and evaluation approaches in Social Studies instruction.
- To be able to explain the teaching and stages of concepts, skills, and values in the Social Studies course.
- To be able to analyze Social Studies textbooks in terms of scope, format, content, and other aspects.
- Being able to explain the definition, scope, and history of the Social Studies course
- Being able to describe the development, structure, and fundamental elements of the Social Studies curriculum
- Being able to recognize student characteristics and learning styles in the Social Studies course
- To be able to define the implementation processes related to the constructivist approach in the Social Studies course.
- To be able to define the strategies, methods, and techniques that can be used in the Social Studies course.
