Course Objective
To be able to understand mathematical concepts and systems, make logical induction and deductive inferences, expressing their own mathematical thoughts and reasoning within the process of solving mathematical problems, develop problem-solving strategies and use them to solve everyday problems, generate a mathematical model, developing a positive attitude towards mathematics, be able to appreciate the power of mathematics including its network of relationships, research and knowledge generation, to give students the ability to enhance to be systematic, careful and responsible skills
Course Content
Number systems and hierarchical model, closure properties of number systems according to the four processing system, mathematical modeling, problem solving and setup with four operations, solving and problem posing including routine problems involving the four operations, number system conversion (decimal to other base system), four operations with radix numeration system except the decimal system, divisibility rules for 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 with proofs, least common multiple and greatest common divisor, four operations with fractions and relations between fraction and ratio, decimal fractions and four operations with decimal fractions, pattern, basic geometric shapes, basic solid geometry, concept of measurement and basic units of measurement, geometric solids and expansions
