Course Objective
The aim of the PCG Practices in Schools I course is to enable counselor candidates to put into practice the theoretical knowledge and skills related to counseling and guidance that they have acquired in previous years to be better prepared for the counseling profession, to learn the duties and responsibilities of a counselor working at school and to work towards these duties and responsibilities.organizations.
Course Content
This course aims to enable counselor candidates to carry out developmental and preventive classroom and group guidance activities related to social, emotional, academic, and career development for different levels of education, to apply program evaluation individual recognition techniques, to observe the school counselor and the functioning of the school counseling and guidance service, to participate in information meetings, to develop materials such as boards and brochures for the needs of students, and to provide feedback to supervisors and counselor candidates on these practices.

Rules
Academic Integrity Policy: Academic honesty; It includes elements such as cheating, using or buying ready-made assignments or written materials, academic plagiarism (using someone else's thought, opinion, invention or work in an assignment, project, report and similar studies by presenting it as one's own without citing the source). When such situations are detected, they may cause the student to be deemed unsuccessful and to be expelled from the university at a further level.
Attendance: Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University Undergraduate Education and Training Regulation Article 21 – (1) Students at the university; are required to attend 70% of theoretical courses and 80% of applied courses in one semester. Each instructor checks the obligation to attend classes according to these principles.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Expresses the skills used and points to be considered during school counseling practices by observing the work carried out by the school counselor.
- Plans and implements classroom guidance activities that help students/clients acquire competencies in social, emotional, academic and career areas.
- Evaluates studies such as group psychoeducation or group counseling by using test and non-test techniques.
- Evaluates the results of applying an individual recognition technique to a group or class.
