Course Objective

The aim of the Classroom Management course is to enable prospective teachers to acquire knowledge and skills regarding the fundamental concepts, theories, and practices of classroom management so that they can create safe, inclusive, and effective learning environments that support the cognitive, affective, and social development of students. In this context, the course aims to develop competencies in understanding and guiding student behavior, managing classroom communication processes, effectively using time and learning resources, creating a positive classroom culture, and developing appropriate problem-solving strategies for potential classroom issues.

Course Content

Basic concepts about classroom management, communication and interaction in ECE class, definition of classroom management, different aspects and characteristics of classroom management without providing classroom discipline regulation, management of undesirable behaviors in the classroom, time management in the classroom, classroom organization, creating a positive classroom environment suitable for learning (examples and recommendations).

Rules

Academic Integrity Policy: Academic honesty; It includes elements such as cheating, using or buying ready-made assignments or written materials, academic plagiarism (using someone else's thought, opinion, invention or work in an assignment, project, report and similar studies by presenting it as one's own without citing the source). When such situations are detected, they may cause the student to be deemed unsuccessful and to be expelled from the university at a further level.

Attendance: Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University Undergraduate Education and Training Regulation Article 21 – (1) Students at the university; are required to attend 70% of theoretical courses and 80% of applied courses in one semester. Each instructor checks the obligation to attend classes according to these principles.

  1. Explains the concepts related to classroom management in early childhood.
  2. Defines the principles, dimensions, and models of classroom management.
  3. Explains the factors that affect classroom management in early childhood education.
  4. Develops solutions using classroom management strategies for case studies (scenarios).
  5. Compares discipline models in early childhood.
  6. Explains approaches and interventions for undesirable behavior situations by providing examples.
  7. Identifies strategies for creating a positive and organized classroom climate.
  8. Establishes classroom rules appropriate to the developmental levels of children in early childhood education.
  9. Explains effective communication channels with children.
