Course Objective
The aim of this course is to give the ability to teach the Ottoman Turkish alphabet, to read and understand the basic texts written with this alphabet, to make use of these sources, to understand whether the word is in Turkish, Arabic or Persian and to teach the words of the Arabic word derivation and word derivation.
Course Content
Ottoman Turkish is the language of our ancestors. Learning this language is very important to us. Because through this writing we should teach the history and culture of a long period belonging to our past to future generations with the help of this writing. With this thought, it is aimed to teach the general structure of Ottoman Turkish in our university, writing and reading with Ottoman Turkish and to teach Ottoman Turkish alphabet. Basic knowledge of Ottoman Turkish, writing rules and printed text studies are the works to be done in this course programme.

- Students will be expected to have learned the Ottoman alphabet
- Students will be expected to have learned the writing principles of Ottoman
- Students will be expected to have knowledge on Ottoman grammar
- Students will acquire the ability to read texts written in Ottoman Turkish
- Students will be expected to be familiar wiht the types of Islamic script
- Students will have the ability to read texts written in nesih and rik'a script
- Students will be expected to have learned the principles for writing in Ottoman Turkish
