Coordinator: Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Elif GÜNER
Instructors: Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Elif GÜNER
Course Objective
To teach the students the theoretical dimensions of relationship between nutrition and psychology and to teach the psychological aspects of eating disorders.
Course Content
To explain the theoretical dimensions of the relationship between nutrition and psychology.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Explains the mechanisms underlying food intake regulation, appetite physiology, and the neurophysiology of eating behavior.
- Evaluates the physiological and behavioral characteristics of obesity, eating behavior disorders, food addiction, and different types of hunger.
- Analyzes emotional, impulsive, uncontrolled, restrictive, mindful, and intuitive eating behaviors using appropriate assessment methods.
- Compares behavioral change interventions, including nudge strategies, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapy, and identifies appropriate approaches for modifying eating behavior
- Holistically evaluates the effects of environmental, social, and digital factors, as well as the endocannabinoid system, gut-brain axis, neurogastronomy, ultra-processed foods, and GLP-1 receptor agonists on eating behavior.**
