Course Objective

The aim of the course is to teach students the status of diabetes in the world and in our country, the pathophysiology of diabetes, diabetic diet, drug and exercise management, self-monitoring, prevention and treatment of acute and chronic complications of diabetes, different life periods (puberty, pregnancy, old age) diabetes, diabetes education, diabetes nurse to obtain information about the roles and responsibilities.

Course Content

This course focuses on the status of diabetes in the world and in our country, the pathophysiology of diabetes, diabetic diet, drug and exercise management, self-monitoring, prevention and treatment of acute and chronic complications of diabetes, diabetes mellitus, diabetes education, diabetes mellitus in different life periods (puberty, pregnancy, old age). give information about their roles and responsibilities.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand the epidemiology and importance of diabetes
  2. To understand the basic and current knowledge about diabetes treatment and care
  3. Transfer the theoretical knowledge of diabetes to patient care
  4. To be able to plan, implement and evaluate effective nursing care
  5. Knowing the effective approaches to the education of diabetics and their relatives
  6. Gain knowledge and skills about continuous care in diabetes
  7. Be able to gain sufficient knowledge and opinion about planning and conducting research which will be important in the development of diabetes nursing
