Course Objective

To know the pathophysiology of renal failure disease, to follow the patients who need dialysis (hemodialysis-peritoneal dialysis), to prepare and use the tools and equipment used in dialysis, to plan and implement the necessary nursing applications in patients on dialysis and to improve the quality of life in dialysis patients

Course Content

The anatomy and physiology of the kidney, the diagnostic methods used in renal diseases and the methods of nursing, renal failure and nursing approaches, dialysis, dialysis indications, types of dialysis, physiological principles of dialysis, the necessary materials for dialysis, dialysis applications, complications of dialysis, necessary nursing approaches, complications encountered in dialysis applications and nursing approaches, dialysis applications in elderly and in pregnancy, feeding and education of dialysis patients.

  1. Dialysis can identify, plan, find appropriate nursing interventions and assess the results of patients' health needs
  2. Can recognize and use the equipment used in dialysis
  3. Can make nursing applications necessary to improve the quality of life in dialysis patients
  4. Can provide nursing care so that patients with dialysis can cope with their families
  5. Can provide appropriate nutrition for dialysis patients
  6. Can meet the health education of dialysis patient and family
  7. Take precautions against infections that may be seen during dialysis treatments
  8. Describe the health needs of hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients
