BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION - THESIS

About the Program

-It consists of seven courses (3 hours per week), graduate seminar, and thesis study (120 ECTS total). The normal duration of this program is 4 semesters; the maximum duration is 6 semesters.

- Students, who completed course phase, submit a thesis proposal with the thesis form to the Institute, before starting their theses. After their proposals approved by the Institute, they can start their theses.

- Students enrolled in thesis master programs in the Institute of Social Sciences must fulfill the following conditions before their graduation.

The student who is enrolled in a graduate program must fulfill at least one of the following conditions in order to graduate.

  1. Two papers presented at national or international scientific meetings,
  2. An article published in a peer-reviewed/ indexed journal, accepted for publication, or received a DOI number,
  3. Two papers presented at Social / Science symposiums organized by IZU.
Program Objectives & Goals

Objectives

  1. To educate and raise graduates who can add more to their knowledge and skills that they acquired in the field of management with a lifelong learning attitude by following the improvements and changes around them
  2. To develop skills that are directed towards producing scientific studies in the field of business administration, sharing what are produced, fulfilling the societal and professional responsibilities, developing and applying projects.
  3. To raise individuals who has information and skills that may can contribute scientific development and competent in research, problem solution and analyzing
  4. Raise leaders with advanced leadership skills, who can lead the employees in their teams effectively, can be a team player and can manage inter personal relationships and conflicts
  5. Raising individuals who can have a critical approach to contemporary problems, whose analytical skills are developed, and who are solution oriented with the knowledge and the skills that they acquire in the business and management field
  6. To educate and develop graduates who are competent with theoretical and practical knowledge to a level that they can perform their professions in the field of management and business administration

KNOWLEDGE

  1. Being able to master and enhance the theoretical and practical knowledge, that are supported by contemporary sources of information on the functions of business such as human resources, production, management, marketing, accounting and finance and comprehending the associations between these fields in a multidisciplinary approach

COMPETENCE

  1. Being able to synthesize, interpret, generalize and use the advanced theoretical and practical knowledge and skills on all the fields of business in a way that they can analyze and implement effective solutions for the contemporary problems of business world
  2. To fallow the developments, technology and contemporary information that may be necessary for providing solutions to problems modern organizations face and satisfy rapidly changing work demands, evaluate and continuously update present knowledge
  3. Being able to express and represent the studies that are conducted in the field of business and administration in written, verbal and visual forms effectively and being able to successfully manage the social relationships and interpersonal dynamics in the organization
  4. Being able to use the knowledge acquired in the field of business effectively for the solution of problems that necessitate interdisciplinary competence and for developing strategies, policies and practices in light of the social, cultural, scientific and ethical values

Degree and Level Awarded

Students who successfully completed this study programme is awarded the qualification of Master Degree in Business Administration (Thesis)

Admission Requirements

-To have bachelor's degree,

-Get at least 55 points from ALES (SÖZ-EA-SAY point type),

-The courses of this program are given at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University Halkalı campus. In case of sufficient number of applications, courses can also be given at Altunizade campus.

Graduation Requirements

The degree is awarded to students who successfully completes a minimum of 60 ECTS from the course units of the programme, defends his / her thesis and have at least 2.50 GPA 

- It consists of seven courses of twenty one hour, seminar and thesis work. (Total 120 ECTS and an average of 2.50 and above) The normal duration of completing this program is 4 semesters and the maximum duration is 6 semesters.

Students who complete the course phase submit a thesis proposal to the Institute before starting their thesis. After their thesis proposals are accepted by the Institute, they are entitled to start their thesis.

In order to graduate, students enrolled in the graduate programs must meet at least one of the following conditions before the thesis defense exam.

  1. A paper presented at national or international scientific meetings,
  2. An article published in a refereed / indexed journal, accepted for publication or with a DOI number,
  3. A paper presented at the symposiums organized by IZU in the Social / Science fields.
  • The publication should be about the thesis subject of the student or a subject related to the department.
  • In publications, the approval of the thesis advisor must be obtained.
  • Publications must have the name of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University.
Recognition of Prior Learning

 A student who has completed at least one semester in a graduate program at the university or another higher education institution can be admitted to the University's graduate programs through undergraduate transfer within the framework of the relevant legislation and the principles determined by the institute board of directors.

 The principles regarding the transfer between thesis and non-thesis graduate programs are determined by the institute board of directors.

Employment Opportunities

There are lots of job opportunities for the graduates of the Department of Management master programme both in public and private sectors. The graduates can set up and operate their own business or can work as top executives in different businesses or work as managers in different departments (production, operating, marketing, sales, purchasing, advertising, finance, human resources, public relations and research and development) of companies or work as specialists such as training specialists and managers, financial analysts, financial advisors, accountants, auditors, financial advisors in companies, banks, and other organizations.
