MIM 520 - Accessibility in Architectural Design

Graduate Education Institute · Architecture · Master

ECTS: 7.5 T+P+L: 3+0+0 Departmental Elective
Coordinator: Doç. Dr. Şahika ÖZDEMİR

Course Objective

As a course approach, it aims to provide design students with a multidimensional and scaled process understanding of design in accessibility studies, to solve problems and to discover new possibilities that will create value for everyone. It provides the knowledge and understanding necessary for the student to be able to determine how to assess inclusion and accessibility, relevant legislation, and the suitability of various environments and associated facilities.

Course Content

In this basic course, the concept of accessible design (universal design) for everyone will be examined within the principle of non-discrimination - equal status, at different scales of design: planning, architecture and interior architecture-product design, and will be discussed in a holistic design approach.
