Course Objective

The main purpose of this module is to teach the terminological words and terms used in legal texts. Therefore, students are enabled to improve their ability to understand legal texts such as statutes, court decisions, contracts, and draft them. Another purpose of our course is to enable our students to advance their English to a level that they will need during their academic studies such as master and PhD which they may do after graduation.

In this module, legal terms which are used in civil law and common law systems will be studied

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Students shall learn the legal terms used in English
  2. Student shall have the ability to employ correctly and accurately the legal terms in English which must be used when they draft a legal text
  3. Students shall have the ability to understand the legal texts in English such as statutes, court decisions, contracts, power of attorney, petitions
