Course Objective

To explain the morphological features of Turkish. To introduce the word suffixes and roots of the Turkish language, to highlight the semantic and structural changes that word roots and stems undergo when suffixes are added, and to make students aware of the meanings and semantic nuances that suffixes impart to word roots and stems.

Course Content

To learn the structural features of the Turkish language. To acquire sufficient academic knowledge about roots and suffixes. Words (root, suffix); Word types according to their origins [native words, foreign words: etymology], word types according to their structure (simple words, derived words, compound words); Words according to their types [noun, adjective, verb, adverb, pronoun, conjunction, preposition, interjection]; Turkish suffixes (derivational suffixes, inflectional suffixes, verbal suffixes, voice suffixes, auxiliary verb suffixes); Applications of analyzing the roots/stems and suffixes of words.
