Course Objective

This course aims to introduce undergraduate psychology students to the fundamental concepts, theoretical foundations, and practical principles of group psychotherapy. Students will examine how the group functions as a therapeutic tool, explore group dynamics and therapeutic factors, and critically evaluate the ways in which group therapy differs from individual therapy.

Course Content

The course covers the concept and definition of groups, types of groups and their areas of application, Yalom's therapeutic factors, group process and dynamics, the roles and intervention skills of the group leader, member selection and preparation for group therapy, short-term and long-term group therapy models, and the characteristics of inpatient groups.
