PSK 116 - Developmental Psychology II

Course Objective

This course is a continuation of PSK 115 Developmental Psychology I course. This derste is studied from the biological, psychological and sociological perspectives of human life, and it is aimed to learn the changes in behaviors, thoughts and emotions of the child during childhood, adolescence and old age.

Course Content

The basic concepts of developmental psychology, research methods, theoretical approaches to explain development of behavior, and finally basic knowledge about physical, cognitive and socio-emotional changes and characteristics specific to each life cycle from birth to adulthood. Current research findings are shared by creating a discussion environment based on mutual interaction among students.

Explanations

Midterm 40 %, Final  60 %.

Exams are multiple choice, short answered open end questions, fill in the blank formed.

Topics till exam date are included in exams declared in syllabus .

Course presantations, textbook, uploaded materials to system are included exams.

Rules

Attandance to lessons is essential.

Min. attandance is 70 % required.

It is recommended to participate class activities.

Lectrures continoues also via uploaded materrials to system - if exists.

Reading couse texbook, following lesson slides are under students' responsibility.

Course Learning Outcomes

  1. Explain the physical, cognitive and socio-emotional characteristics in developmental stages from middle and late childhood to old age
  2. Adulthood stages are discussed in detail.
  3. Death and grief processes are discussed in detail.
