Course Objective

To provide students with accurate information about Ottoman History. In addition, it is one of the objectives of the course to provide students with an awareness of the political social and cultural issues in Ottoman history. In this context, it is aimed to examine the Ottoman history as a whole and to examine the factors underlying the political events and to examine the general characteristics of diplomacy in the Ottoman Empire.

Course Content

Ottoman Empire; Political, social and economic developments and general characteristics of Ottoman diplomacy.

  1. Explain the factors affecting the stagnation of Ottoman Empire. Explain the activities of the Ottoman Empire to stop the decline. Examine the political efforts of the Ottoman Empire against the developments in the 19th century. Express the general characteristics and components of Ottoman culture and civilization. Explain the reflection of Ottoman culture and civilization.
