Course Objective

The general aim of this course is to give information about the legal basis of the areas where social workers will work, their basic concepts and the professional legislation they will be subject to. In this course, an overview of the national and international legal regulations of social welfare services will be provided. The structure, functioning, principles, constitution, juvenile youth legislation (juvenile delinquency, child protection, adoption, etc.), legal regulations related to old age and disability, women's rights, justice and social work legislation in the field of health will be emphasized. In addition, the importance of social service legislation for social workers together with social service institutions and organizations will be emphasized.

Explanations

a) In-term evaluation: 40 %
• Visa: 20 % (It is done during the visa week specified in the academic calendar).
• Homework, presentation and other work: 20 % (Consists of homework and/or presentation and other work to be done during the semester). At least one homework assignment is given for this course. Evaluation is made according to these assignments and distributed equally.

b. Final: 60% (It will be held in the final week specified in the academic calendar).

Midterm and Final exams; Based on the theoretical knowledge and interpretation of the course, it can also consist of open-ended questions or it can be done in the form of a test (multiple choice). The basic and auxiliary resources specified in the lesson plan can be evaluated together in these exams.

In the semester evaluations, readings to be done about the course, attendance, Teams, Wooclap, Perusall etc. related to the course. Evaluation can be made by taking into account the use of technological educational tools, the assignments given through these tools, and the readings.

Students must do the assignments themselves.

It is not tolerated to copy or attempt to copy in any way. According to the provisions of Article 7 / e and 8 / d of Higher Education Institutions Student Discipline Regulation, larda making copies or making exams or attempting these examinations Dis punishes the Yönet suspension from higher education institution for one or two semesters Yönet. The names of those who make copies or attempted to withdraw from the examination are notified to the Dean with a request for a disciplinary investigation.
Students must attend at least 70% of the courses. Students who have less than 70% attendance are considered to be directly unsuccessful in this course. These students; final and hence they are not taken into the make-up exam.

  2. Will be able to explain the basic concepts of social service legislation.
  3. Summarize the basic concepts and legal regulations related to women's rights and family legislation
  4. Will be able to explain legislation related to children and youth.
  5. Will be able to list the legal regulations for the elderly and the disabled.
  6. Will be able to explain the regulations, laws, practices of health institutions and patient rights.
  7. Will be able to express social work practices for children and adults in the field of justice.
  8. Know the legislation used in social service areas.
  9. Know which social services are used in the examples given in relation to social service legislation.
