Course Objective

The purpose of this course is for students to be able to plan medical nutrition therapy for clinical conditions commonly seen in newborns, children, and adolescents, to be able to perform growth and development assessments, and to develop their clinical decision-making skills through pediatric case analyses. Through case-based presentations and literature-supported discussions in the theoretical lectures, students' practice-oriented knowledge, communication, and professional attitude skills are developed.

Course Content

Within the scope of this course, students learn nutrition therapy for clinical conditions commonly encountered in newborns, children, and adolescents through case-based presentations. Each student conducts a growth and development assessment based on a specific pediatric case, interprets the clinical and laboratory findings, develops an individualized nutrition plan appropriate to the medical diagnosis, and presents this process in the classroom, supported by scientific literature. Through the discussions held after the presentations, students' skills in clinical decision-making, professional communication, and application of professional ethical principles are supported. In addition to the transfer of theoretical knowledge, the course is based on students' active participation, taking responsibility, and learning from one another.
