Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences · Interior Architecture and Environmental Design · Undergraduate
Course Objective
Developing students' abstraction and conceptualizing techniques; aims to create designs or organizations by blending, editing, modifying concepts such as shape, form, color, pattern, pattern, material, scale and space. It aims at understanding the process of intellectual conversion by using design principles, elements and creativity techniques. It enables the development of analysis and synthesis skills for design problems. The work to be done during the semester concentrates on developing the ability to understand and relate design relations. The data and constraints enable students to concentrate on specific design themes, while hands and minded exercises and works aim to enrich the products. The design process is at least as important as the result; it evolves through discussions on ideas developed in the general light of the individual's interest and perception. These discussions enhance the student's ability to express himself. Both the process and the product are archived throughout the semester with daily notes, sketches and photographs.
Course Content
* Introduction to design principles and design elements, Harmoni, Contrast, Balance, Shape and Soil Relationship etc., Texture, Motion, color scale, Human figure, Scale. Visual perception and illusion. * The stages of the design are studied in 2 and 3 dimensional compositions.

Explanations
1. In the evaluation of this course, weekly assignments, term homework and comprehensive term paper will be done.
2. Attendance is compulsory. You must use your absenteeism for your excuses and will not be allowed.
3. During the week, the work done in the studio and homework will be evaluated and the success grade will be given.
4. Studies not given in time will be considered invalid. The average of the studies done before the mid-term (average mid-term exam, then the final grade will be evaluated as the average.
5. Homework assignments will be delivered to the next lesson.
6. The necessary materials will be brought to the studio by the student.
7. Students who cannot deliver their homework due to absenteeism at the specified time or on the day of the course are required to submit their homework assignments until 17:00 on the first Monday following the day of the lesson. Otherwise, their homework will not be accepted.
8. Weekly assignments are covered by the previous week. Homework assignments are directed to the class individually.
9. Term and end-of-term assignments cover all subjects that were processed in previous weeks and presented as models, drawings and text.
Materials Required: CUTTING MATERIALS (Pattern Cutter - Cardboard 100 * 70 (on top of Mianimum 3 tables) - Cardboard - Ruler - B and H Series Pens - Sponge (Different Colors) - A4 and A3 Paper - Adhesive - Scissor - Gouache Paint, Fund Cardboard and other materials.
Rules
- Attendance: It is the university policy that attendance is compulsory. A student missing more than 20% of the total allocated course hours will receive a WF.
- Getting Help: Students are encouraged to consult their instructor during office hours, by appointment, or through the Math Learning Center. However, before seeking help from anyone, make sure you read your lecture notes and textbook. See the examples similar to the problem in question then try to do the problem yourself. It should be emphasized that students who miss a class without a valid written and/or legitimate excuse will not be offered a one-on-one lecture discussion during office hours to substitute the missed class.
- Academic Misconduct will not be tolerated. You are expected to submit your own work. Copying, cheating or plagiarism, when detected, will result in an XF grade in the course for all who are involved (i.e. it does not matter if somebody copied your homework, project etc., you are guilty as well).
The Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University affirms the importance of integrity and respecting the work of each individual. As an institution of higher education, the university views academic integrity as an educational as well as judicial issue. Academic violations include (but not limited to) the following: plagiarism, inappropriate collaboration, dishonesty in examinations, dishonesty in papers, work done for one course and submitted to another, deliberate fascination of data, etc.
