TUR 101 - Turkish Language I

Course Objective

To make people understand the features of the Turkish language and its rules of operation and to show them with examples; To show the alphabets used by the Turkish language throughout its history and the works it produced through examples; to improve students' vocabulary through written and oral texts; to develop the habit of reading books; To gain scientific, critical, questioning, interpretive, creative and constructive thinking habits.

Course Content

Definition and characteristics of language. Relationship between language and thought. Relationship between language and culture. Concepts of mother language, cultural language, international language. Writing a letter of application. Languages of the world. The place of the Turkish language among world languages. Historical development of Turkish language. Phonological, morphological, semantic and syntactic structure of Turkish languge.. Types of clauses. Spelling rules. Punctuation marks.

  3. He/She learns the languages ​​of the world and their classification. He/She learns the place of Turkish among the world languages ​​and the language family to which Turkish belongs.
  4. He/She learns the stages of Turkish.
  5. They learns the differences between the language of speech and the writing language.
