Course Objective
The aim of the lesson is to teach students 1. The sounds in English, 2. How to produce those sounds 3. Differences betwee the sounds in Turkish and English 4. Correct pronunciation of words 5. How to correct their pronunciatons errors on their own.
Course Content
1. The phonetic alphabet, 2. Phonemes: Vowels, consonants, 3. Exercises on reading and writing normal and phonetic texts throughout the semester, 4. Listening comprehension through video
Course Learning Outcomes
- At the end of this course students learn the phonetic alphabet.
- At the end of this course students learn how to read and write in phonetic transcription.
- At the end of this course students learn the sounds in English.
- At the end of this course students learn the correct pronunciation of words.
- At the end of this course students learn how to produce English sounds.
