Course Objective
The generic goal of this course is to design, development and evaluation an instructional material based on the theoritical and conceptional background of instructional technologies and material desing.
Course Content
Concepts related to instructional technology, the characteristics of various teaching technologies, the place and use of instructional technologies in teaching process, determining the technology needs of the school or class, appropriate technology planning and execution, development of two and three dimensional materials through teaching technologies, development of instructional materials (worksheets, activity planning, overhead transparencies, slides, visual media (VCD, DVD), computer based devices), examination of educational software, evaluation of teaching materials of various qualities, Internet and distance education, visual design principles, researches on the efficiency of instructional materials, Usage status of teaching technologies in Turkey and in the world.
Course Learning Outcomes
- Students will comprehend the inherent relationship between language learning /teaching and materials preparation
- Students will be able to recognize the determining position of methodological choices on materials design and development.
- Students will prepare language materials according to specific language teaching methodologies.
- Students will learn about different methodologies and will critically compare methodologies to one another doing critical reading exercises.
- Students will apply their materials in the classroom in front of their friends.
- Students will compare and contrast different techniques for language teaching materials creation.
