Interior Architecture and Environmental Design

The Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University aims to train interior architects who can integrate spatial arrangements in buildings and their surroundings with aesthetics, functionality and architectural knowledge, and who can offer creative solutions sensitive to user needs. The programme aims to equip students with the competence to evaluate social, cultural, psychological, environmental, technical and economic factors, enabling them to approach spatial design holistically. In addition to theoretical courses, the education process is supported by drawing, applied studies, studio projects, computer-aided design, seminars and presentations. In light of current approaches, students are equipped with the ability to design contemporary spaces of high aesthetic value that correctly interpret architectural parameters.

With the knowledge and skills gained over the four-year programme, graduates can take on effective roles in design, implementation and supervision processes. Interior architects can work in the public sector, in institutions such as the Ministry of Public Works and Settlement and municipalities, as well as in the private sector, in architecture and interior architecture offices or in firms producing furniture, lighting and building components. Graduates can also shape their careers by establishing their own offices as independent interior architects.
