Duties and Responsibilities of the Commissions
a. Faculty Commissions and Coordinators
1. Curriculum and Accreditation Commission
Duties:
- Reviewing course plans and harmonizing them across departments, and ensuring the suitability of the ECTS-TQF Course Information Forms of newly opened courses,
- Preparing the necessary proposals for the Dean's Office on updates to undergraduate education,
- Carrying out work on the development of MUH-coded elective course pools.
2. Quality Commission
Duties:
- Coordinating goal-oriented and performance-oriented activities in academic and administrative units,
- To support the development of practices in line with the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle,
- Monitoring and reporting quality performance and improvement needs, and planning the necessary actions,
- Preparing and administering student satisfaction surveys and reporting their results.
3. IYMEP Commission
Duties:
- Preparing the necessary protocols with corporate companies so that practices can be carried out within the framework of the relevant directive, and ensuring that they are signed in accordance with the legislation,
- Ensuring that processes are defined and quality documents are prepared.
4. Faculty Common Courses Coordinatorship
Duties:
- Coordinating the mathematics, physics, statistics, information technology and occupational health and safety courses taught within the Faculty, MUH-coded courses and other courses determined by the Dean's Office,
- Making updates to course syllabi when deemed necessary,
- Ensuring that the exam schedule is consistent with the exams of the departments within the Faculty.
5. TEKNOFEST Coordinatorship
Duties:
- Receiving and reviewing the applications of competition teams within the Faculty every year by 17.00 on the second Thursday of November, and deciding on them on the first Monday of December,
- Meeting the needs and requests of competitors, as far as possible, through other units of the university,
- Ensuring that the limited budget allocated for competition preparations is distributed among the teams on a justified basis,
- Supporting the search for donors, in accordance with the legislation, to meet the teams' in-kind and cash needs in their competition preparations.
6. Social Responsibility and Volunteering Coordinatorship
Duties:
- Drawing on the socio-cultural and academic experience of teaching staff to give students the ability to produce solutions to social problems through teamwork,
- Preparing projects for vulnerable and disadvantaged groups such as the elderly, people with disabilities and children, and ensuring the active participation of these groups,
- Carrying out volunteering activities for students within the framework of a theme set for each academic year,
- Cooperating with other faculties and with the university's external stakeholders, non-governmental organizations, institutions and organizations.
b. Department Commissions and Coordinators
1. Curriculum and MÜDEK/MİAK/FEDEK Commission
Duties:
- Carrying out work on the arrangement of department course plans and course information forms,
- Verifying the suitability of changes made to course plans and of the ECTS-TQF Course Information Forms of newly opened courses, and checking updates made to existing courses,
- To carry out the accreditation work in the department and to prepare the reports required for application,
- Informing the visiting accreditation committee, presenting the necessary documents and answering questions,
- Ensuring the administration, archiving and evaluation of accreditation-related surveys,
- Ensuring the preparation and archiving of portfolios and course files and making the necessary updates.
2. Internship Commission
Duties:
- Deciding on the suitability of the institutions where students will do their internships,
- To carry out the assessment of internships,
- Announcing the internship quotas allocated to the department by public or private institutions and organizations in Turkey and abroad, and distributing them to students according to predetermined criteria,
- Preparing proposals to the Department Board for updating the Department Internship Implementation Principles when deemed necessary,
- Carrying out other internship procedures assigned by the head of department.
3. Course, Examination and Graduation Commission
4. Double Major, Minor, Inter-Programme Transfer and Adaptation Commission
Duties:
- Evaluating and deciding on Double Major, Minor and Inter-Programme Transfer applications within the framework of the relevant legislation,
- Evaluating the prior course exemption and adaptation procedures of students admitted to the department through horizontal/vertical transfer.
5. Horizontal Transfer and Summer School Commission
Duties:
- To assess horizontal transfer applications,
- Evaluating the applications of students who wish to take summer school courses outside the university.
6. Quality Officer
Duties:
- To prepare, administer and report exit, graduate and employer surveys,
- To support the development of practices in line with the PDCA cycle,
- To contribute to the quality improvement work carried out in the department,
- Helping to ensure that processes and activities are reported regularly.
7. Erasmus Coordinator
Duties:
- To inform students about exchange programmes,
- Helping incoming students under exchange programmes adapt to the department,
- Conducting intra-university correspondence on exchange programmes.
8. Professional Experience Sharing and İYMEP Representative
Duties:
- Organizing a seminar programme each semester that brings students together with at least one industry representative or alumnus,
- Receiving and evaluating İYMEP applications and ensuring placement at the relevant companies,
- Monitoring students' processes at the companies and ensuring their completion,
- Administering surveys to students and companies and reporting on them.
