The aim of the Child-Centered Play Therapy training is to enable participants to acquire therapeutic skills that allow children to express their emotional and behavioral difficulties through play, and that help them understand and support the child's inner world.

1. Introduction and Theoretical Foundations

• Introduction to Child-Centered Play Therapy
o Definition, history and development of play therapy
o Basic principles and theoretical foundations of the child-centered play therapy approach
o The contributions of Carl Rogers and Virginia Axline

• Child Development and Play Therapy
o Stages of child development and the role of play therapy in these stages
o Developmental theories used in play therapy

2. Basic Principles and Methods of Play Therapy

• Establishing the Therapeutic Relationship
o Methods of building a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship with the child
o Empathy, unconditional acceptance and allowing the child to express themselves

• Play Therapy Techniques
o Setting up the playroom and selecting the toys used in therapy
o Allowing children to express themselves through play
o Therapeutic interventions and observations during play
 


3. Managing the Therapeutic Process

• Stages of Therapy
o Stages of child-centered play therapy: beginning, middle and termination
o The therapist's role at each stage and changes in the child's development

• Therapeutic Interventions
o Intervention techniques and guiding the therapy process through the child's play
o Limit-setting and guidance strategies in child-centered play therapy

4. Practical Application and Experiential Learning

Ayşe Duygu Akal:

She graduated from the Guidance and Psychological Counseling program of the Faculty of Education at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University on 25 June 2019. Akal, who began her education in Germany, completed her secondary education at Isparta Anatolian High School and subsequently worked as a special education teacher. Since 2021 she has been working as a psychological counselor at the Arnavutköy Guidance and Research Center. She is qualified in child-centered play therapy, projective tests and child assessment tests. Akal is a native German speaker and also speaks English.

Participants who complete the training receive a certificate approved by Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University within one month at the latest.

The certificate can be viewed via e-Government.

An 80% attendance requirement must be met during the training.

  • Once groups have been confirmed, FEE refunds are not possible.
  • IZUSEM reserves the right to make any changes it deems necessary during the announcement and implementation stages of its programmes.
  • As the quota for the programme in question is limited, no refund will be made to participants who have been granted final registration by IZUSEM and have paid the programme fee, regardless of whether they attend the programme, except for those who submit a written application to IZUSEM stating that they will be unable to attend at least 2 weeks before the programme's start date (and before the programme has been approved by the relevant department).
