The aim of the Financial Statement Literacy training is to build an understanding of financial statements, to interpret them and to explain their importance. Financial reports such as the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement provide information about companies' operations and are used to make projections about their future activities.
This training also provides managers who make financial decisions with information on the types and content of financial statements, the meaning of the amounts represented by financial statement items, and how the financial ratios that reveal the relationships between these items are calculated and what they mean.
Financial ratios are used to assess a company's liquidity position, debt-servicing capacity, financing structure, operating results, profitability and whether its economic assets are used efficiently over a given period or periods, as well as to compare the company with other businesses.
