Course Objective
The purpose of this class is examine the economic understandig of the Ottoman Empire and statuses of the people and state within the ecomonic life according to terms of the period; additionally compare them to todays relations between state and economy. At the same time misunderstandings abut Ottoman Empire and its economic life will be corrected.
Course Content
Ottoman Empire, being one of the prominent states of the world history, thanks to its political, social and economic structure, has lived for a very long time. Thanks to this structure it has created a balanca between many nations and religions. State structure of the Ottoman Empire, its enforced principles and peopes position within this structure will be examined during this course. Besides, big and effective changes that happen during the 19th century and these effects to the Ottoman Empire and its response will be analyzed.
