About the Program
-It consists of seven courses (3 hours per week), graduate seminar, and thesis study (120 ECTS total). The normal duration of this program is 4 semesters; the maximum duration is 6 semesters.
- Students, who completed course phase, submit a thesis proposal with the thesis form to the Institute, before starting their theses. After their proposals approved by the Institute, they can start their theses.

- To train experts who have analytics about the subjects and problems of knowledge in the field of İslamic history and arts
- To raise qualified people who are capable of original research on current issues and problems related to the field of İslamic history and arts.
- To bring in experts who have absorbed the values of their own history and civilization, who are sensitive to the problems of their civilization and who can take responsibility.
- To ensure students being equipped to investigate their historical background and values of civilization based on scientific principles.

Degree and Level Awarded
Students who complete the requirements of the program receive a master's degree.
Graduation Requirements
It consists of seven courses of twenty-one hours, a graduate seminar and a thesis study. (Total 120 ECTS and an average of 2.50 and above) The normal duration of completing this program is 4 semesters and the maximum duration is 6 semesters.
Students who complete the course phase submit a thesis proposal to the Institute before starting their thesis. After their thesis proposals are accepted by the Institute, they are entitled to start their thesis.
In order to graduate, students enrolled in the graduate programs must meet at least one of the following conditions before the thesis defense exam.
A paper presented at national or international scientific meetings,
An article published in a refereed / indexed journal, accepted for publication or with a DOI number,
A paper presented at the symposiums organized by IZU in the Social / Science fields.
The publication should be about the subject of the student's thesis or a subject related to the department.
In publications, the approval of the thesis supervisor must be obtained.
Publications must have the name of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University.
Recognition of Prior Learning
The undergraduates who meet the requirements for application to the İslamic History and Arts Studies Graduate Program and who are successful in the entrance exam to the program are accepted to the program. Upon the recommendation of the exam jury and the approval of the head of the department, they enroll in the Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University Graduate Education Institute, Department of İslamic History and Arts, Graduate Education Program.
