ISLAMIC ECONOMICS AND LAW (ARABIC) - NON THESIS

About the Program

It consists of ten courses (3 hours per week) and master's project work (Total 90 ECTS). The normal duration of this program is 2 semesters, the maximum duration is 3 semesters.

Program Learning Outcomes

KNOWLEDGE

  1. ● Having sufficient knowledge about the basic concepts and algorithm of Islamic law ● Having knowledge about Islamic morality ● Having sufficient knowledge about Islamic commercial law ● Having sufficient knowledge and skills about economics and finance science ● A comparative perspective with students in need of infrastructure regarding Islamic Economic Theory, the economies of Muslim countries and interest relations, the history of Muslim Economic thought and the history of Islamic Economics.

SKILL

  1. ● Ability to conduct interdisciplinary academic studies between basic Islamic sciences and economics-financial sciences ● New developments in the field of economics and finance are explained and interpreted at a basic level from the perspective of Islamic law and ethics. ● Ability to develop original mechanisms and products in accordance with Islamic principles in the financial system ● To enable them to analyze qualitative and quantitative data and interpret them comprehensively.

COMPETENCE

  1. Having the competence to conduct qualitative and quantitative research in terms of sources, methods and terminology in the field of Islamic economics and finance.

Degree and Level Awarded

Students who successfully complete the Non-Thesis Master's Program in Islamic Economics and Law are entitled to receive a non-thesis master's diploma and degree.

Admission Requirements
  • To hold a bachelor's degree.

  • To obtain a score of at least 70 from the YDS / YÖKDİL (Arabic) exams, or a score of at least 80 from the IZU School of Foreign Languages (YDY) exam.

Graduation Requirements

Recognition of Prior Learning

Registered students may apply for an exemption from courses previously taken at the master's level that are included in the curriculum of the Islamic Economics and Law Master's Program. The applications in question are evaluated by the Department.

Employment Opportunities
  • Graduates of the Islamic Economics and Law Master's Program can work in relevant institutions within both the public and private sectors. Students graduating from this program can also find employment opportunities in academic institutions related to the field. These institutions include both national and international universities as well as research organizations. Currently, in Turkey, there are Islamic economics and finance programs available at the undergraduate level in 2 universities and at the graduate level in 13 universities.

  • Another field where our graduates can be employed is private sector institutions and companies. They can work in domestic and international companies operating within Islamic principles across various sectors, and they can also find employment opportunities in participation banks, participation (takaful) insurance companies, savings-based finance companies, and participation portfolio management companies. Currently, 6 participation banks operate in Turkey with 1,207 branches and a 6.3% market share. In addition, the share of participation insurance companies within the insurance sector has reached 4.3%. In the steadily growing savings-based finance sector, more than 30 companies are actively operating.

Access to Further Studies

Students who were enrolled in or graduated from non-thesis master's programs before June 2, 2013, are eligible to apply for doctoral (PhD) programs.
