Course Objective

The main aim of this course is to prepare students for graduate thesis writing and / or research. In our lesson, four main points are aimed at: First, to bring the students to a scientific and methodological perspective that will turn a social / political problem / topic into a master's thesis. The second is to ensure that students prepare for any topic according to scientific research methods by eliminating the shortcomings of the methods and techniques of scientific research. Third, Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University Social Sciences Institute is to ensure the principles contained in the Guidelines by sharing the criteria contained in the Guidelines for Thesis Writing. The fourth is to allow each student to select a topic and prepare a thesis / research proposal for it, to search the literature and write a theoretical chapter.

  • The particulars of determining a subject (title)
  • From Questions to a problem

Week 5: 

  • How to make efficient reading for literature review?
  • From Problems to resources (How to read literature)
  • Second period - (student participation)

Week 6: 

  • How to select and choose your methodology
  • Second period - (student participation)

Week 7: 

  • Finalizing the methodology
  • Second period - (student participation)

Week 8: 

  • MIDTERM week

Week 9: 

  • To prepare the outline-step 1
  • Second period - (student participation)

Week 10: 

  • To prepare the outline-step 2
  • Second period - (student participation)

Week 11: 

  • Writing the proposal-step 1
  • Using Microsoft Word automated referencing system

Week 12: 

  • Writing the proposal-step 2
  • Familiarizing with Microsoft Word automated titles and table of content

Week 13: 

  • The final revision of the outline and giving the last shape to the proposal

Week 14: 

  • The final presentation of the proposal

Week 15: 

  • The final presentation of the proposal
